FIX Restoration has been doing this work since 2012, long enough to know that a flooded basement or a smoke-damaged kitchen is rarely just a property problem. It disrupts sleep, upends routines, and puts families in the middle of a claims process they’ve never navigated before. That’s the context behind every job we take on, and it shapes how we show up.

What we do

Day to day, the work looks like this: a homeowner discovers water pooling under the subfloor, or a dryer fire leaves soot baked into drywall, or a slow pipe leak behind a wall has been feeding mold for weeks before anyone noticed. We assess what’s actually happening, not just what’s visible at the surface, document it thoroughly for the insurance carrier, and move through mitigation and restoration in a way that keeps the homeowner informed at each step.

Working inside an insurance claim means coordinating with adjusters, writing scopes that match carrier requirements, and making sure nothing falls through the gap between what the policy covers and what the property actually needs. It’s detail-oriented work, and cutting corners on documentation is how claims get underpaid.

Our certifications and what they mean

The restoration industry has a credentialing body, the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification, or IICRC, that sets the technical standards most carriers and code officials reference. Standards like the S500 for water damage or the S520 for mold remediation aren’t suggestions; they define drying targets, containment protocols, and clearance criteria. Working to those standards matters when an adjuster is reviewing a scope or when a future buyer’s inspector is looking at a remediation record.

For homes built before 1978, lead-containing paint is a real possibility, and disturbing it without proper controls creates a federal liability. EPA RRP (Renovation, Repair, and Painting) certification is required by law for firms doing that work, not a nice-to-have, a legal requirement. We hold that certification so pre-1978 properties in the area can be handled correctly.

Where we work

American Fork sits at the base of the Wasatch Range, and the surrounding Utah Valley communities, Lehi, Pleasant Grove, Lindon, Orem, Provo, and others along the I-15 corridor, are where most of our work happens. The area’s housing stock spans from mid-century ranch homes in older Pleasant Grove neighborhoods to the newer construction spreading across Lehi’s fast-growing west side. Older homes bring older plumbing and, in many cases, the lead-paint considerations mentioned above. Newer construction isn’t immune either, slab foundations and tight building envelopes can trap moisture in ways that accelerate mold growth when a supply line fails.

Utah Valley’s dry climate can be misleading. Snowmelt in spring, the occasional high-intensity summer storm, and the region’s hard water all contribute to water damage patterns that look different here than they do in wetter climates. We know the area, and that familiarity matters when we’re tracing a loss back to its source.
